Back before electronic distance measurements, surveyors used transits and stadia rods. By measuring the difference numbers viewed between the upper and lower crosshairs, the distance to the next way point could be measured. This Stadia Computer is a circular slide rule that converts the actual (slant) distance measured to the true horizontal distance.
NSN 6675-00-664-4676. Reasonably heavy white plastic. Besides being useful for actual surveying, these make a dandy rare and unusual circular slide rule collectible.
The circular slide rule is 5 3/4 inches square. The back has an NSN number on it.
