    Description

    LAST ONE!
This collector-issued card is among the last of this scene to be produced and offered on eBay.
    SULPHUR DELL PARK
    Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville's first professional baseball team, the Americans in the newly-formed Southern League, debuted here in 1885.  The park was appropriately named for a natural sulphur spring nearby.  Due to bordering streets and a railroad spur, the site was rectangular, which determined dimensions to the outfield fence: LF 334, CF 421, RF 262.  An inside embankment accommodated overflow crowds and surrounded the outfield.  Top of the right field embankment was 22 1/2 feet above the infield!  In its 100-year existence, the Americans, Seraphs, Tigers, Vols and Negro League Elite Giants all played here.  In September 1963 the Vols played their final game here as a member of the South Atlantic League after 61 years in the Southern Association, 1901-61.  Historic Sulphur Dell was demolished in 1969.
