You are bidding on a SPECIAL EDITION of the Süddeutschn Zeitung from 1946.
The Trial of the Major War Criminals against 24 formerly leading representatives of the Third Reich began in Nuremberg's Justice Palace on November 20th, 1945; among the accused were Hermann Goering, Martin Borman (in absentia), Baldur von Schirach, Ernst Kaltenbrunner, Joachim von Ribbentrop, Rudolf Hess, Albert Speer, Fritz Sauckel, Wilhelm Frick and Wilhelm Keitel.
Six groups or organisations - the SS, the SA, the General Staff and the High Command of the Wehrmacht, the Reich Cabinet, the Fuehrer Corps of the Nazi Party, the Gestapo and the SD - were also charged. The indictment included charges of conspiracy, crimes against peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
After 9 months, the verdict was read out on October 1st, 1946; it contained 12 death sentences, 3 life sentences, 4 sentences between 10 and 20 years as well as 3 acquittals. The Allied Control Council confirmed all the sentences.
