JEANETTE 16.5" LIGHT DEPRESSION GLASS BLUE 6- PART FEATHER RELISH TRAY, and made in the early 1940s
made by the Jeannette Glass Co. This glass was machine made by pressing the melted glass into the mold which results in its beautiful design of "Feathers". This light depression glass blue colored Jeanette Feathered glassware was manufactured early in the 1940s because of shortages with getting the war time color ingredients. The light blue color is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the sunlight.
I'm not aware of any reproductions of the Feather pattern made by Jeanette.
I only wish I had more, because it is so gorgeous. When used on a dining room table for entertainment, this very long 6-part divided relish dish must have looked really awesome on the table. It measures about 16 1/2 inches length wise, and between 7 1/2 to 10 1/2 across (depending upon how one holds the ruler), and is 1 1/2 inches tall (deep), as can be seen in the photographs. It is absolutely beautiful, and was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. It was pre-owned, and is in absolutely perfect condition, which can easily be seen in the photographs. I found it sitting way back on top shelf of a closed dining room cabinet, where it must have sat for many years and was hardly used, because, amazing enough, there aren't any scratches anywhere on the bottom where they would be expected to be found. It absolutely looks "brand new" is if it were made yesterday; incredible for its age,
because it is about 80 years old.
I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can.
I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, scratches, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on the bowl.
There is, however some mold roughness and a few small "straw marks" inside the glass (no breaks or cracks) as Jeanette is know for because it is machine-molded. It comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling. Shipping and Insurance sent via USPS Priority
