Description
You are bidding on a BEAUTIFUL print titled "The Homecoming" by Robert Taylor.Robert Taylor's stirring painting was inspired by the late Group Captain Peter Townsend's vivid description of an event that happened to him whilst in command of 85 Squadron during the Battle of Britain. Flying Officer Jim Marshall, was struggling to keep his Hurricane in the air after a collision with an He111 during an engagement - it was barely flying.
Losing height and low over the beautiful Kent countryside, the Hurricane managed to return to base to as
Townsend stood guard over the crippled aircraft, using hand-signals to guide the young pilot safely back to their base at Debden. It was a typical act of unselfish leadership from one of the RAF's most highly regarded fighter leaders.
From a limited edition of 1500 this auction features a VERY NICE print by Robert Taylor. It depicts a group of Hawker Hurricanes in flight over England.
It is hand-signed by both Peter Townsend, and Robert Taylor. It comes completely framed, with NO marks or wear to the print, as this was done quite early (probably soon after it was issued in 1985)
. The print itself measures approx. 20" x 24". Comes with a COA from the Military Gallery of Great Britain. W
ould make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!!
